WILLIAM EDWIN GOODRICH 

W.E. GOODRICH, 70, NATIVE OF SURRY BURIED THURSDAY 

  William Edwin Goodrich, 70, native of Surry County and a retired merchant 
of Smithfield, where he had made his home for the past 26 years, died at 
6:35 a.m. March 20th at his home in Smithfield following a long illness.

  Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at the grave in Old 
Saint Luke's Cemetery*, with Dr. J.C. Sinclair of Smithfield Methodist Church 
officiating.  The funeral procession left the Goodrich home at 2:30 p.m.

  Mr. Goodrich is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Price Goodrich; a son, 
Baxter Goodrich, both of Smithfield; a brother R.L. Goodrich of Newport News, 
and three grandchildren.

  Active pallbearers were S.L. Goodrich, N.J. Brown, Stanley Brittle, Leroy 
Price, A.L. Goodrich and Robert Goodrich.
